Great carrier for small baby-keeps your hands free!
Date of Review: Feb 22, 2008
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this to anyone with a small baby, especially those with other children. Works great for keeping baby close and hands free.
The Baby Bjorn is a great carrier and very well made. I purchased one when my second child was born. I purchased it from Ebay because I wasn't sure if he was going to like it or not. I had tried using a carrier when my daughter was a baby and she wanted nothing to do with it. Luckily, my son really enjoyed being carried close. I found that the carrier was a little tricky to figure out the first few times. After I got the hang of using the Bjorn - it was no problem. The straps were wide enough that they were comfortable. The carrier washes up well and is made of fabric that doesn't show stains. I put mine in a mesh bag in the washing machine and it came out clean. When my son was very small-about 12lbs I would put him in the carrier with his face facing me. I like that the carrier went up around the back of his head to help support him. If he fell asleep, there was a place for his head to lay. This carrier has a great design feature - you can unhook the part of the carrier where your child is while keeping them in it, without taking the straps off of your shoulders. This is a great feature if your baby falls asleep and you don't want to disturb them by pulling them out of the carrier. This carrier can also be used as your child gets older and has better head control. When my son got older, I used to carry him around with his face away from my body so that he could see everything that was going on. The fabric of the carrier is designed to fold over for forward facing babies - it works great. This carrier is great for anyone that needs to get something done while carrying their baby around. It was very helpful for me when I had my second child and still was doing activities with my older daughter. This is a great carrier for little babies that are not too heavy. Once my son got to be about 18 lbs it was difficult to carry him for long periods of time. I would recommend this for anyone that has a baby that likes / wants to stay close and that's not too heavy.
