Love my Oliso iron
Date of Review: Oct 6, 2007
The Bottom Line: All irons should have 'feet'. This is a great product.
I bought this product because I saw it on Fons & Porter's quilting show. The iron sits flat on the ironing board and can't be knocked over... by my cats or my kids! That's a huge plus for me because I've had more than one cracked plastic irons and because I sew and quilt a lot, I need one at all times.
I like the retractable feet on this iron. I don't have to sit this iron on it's end for it to be easily knocked over and cracked.... although I can if I want. One of the features is that you can turn off the retractable feet feature to use it like a regular 'stand on it's end' iron. Why anyone would want to do that, I don't know. The feet are great.
I also like the fill tank opening being large and on the side of the tank so I don't get drips everywhere. It comes with it's own little fill cup that fits into the tank opening perfectly. This iron also gets hot fast and has good steam.
The auto shut-off is a nice feature but it seems to shut off the retractable legs too, so the iron really needs to be turned to "off" if you're not going to use it for a while... as in quilting. Once you turn it to "on" it heats up very fast so it hasn't been a problem for me in my quilting. That's the only 'con' I can comment on.
I really like this iron. All irons should have 'feet'.
