best car ever owned

After moving to San Diego in '99, I needed a reliable car that wasn't too fancy yet had all the amenities I was looking for. The 2000 Nissan Altima fit the bill precisely! It accelerates well for easy freeway on-ramp merges, has responsive handling, and an overall smooth ride. Gas mileage is pretty good, the sound system is crisp, and the styling is appealing. There is ample head/leg room for our family.

The only downside to the car were the cheap factory-included General tires. They wore down rather quickly; I've since replaced them with a much better grade of tire, and now the car drives like a dream.

Although the redesigned ('02/'03) Altima looks more exciting on paper, I still like the clean styling of the 2000s. We hope to hang onto our's for a long time...
