Great shots and macro, not very durable

Date of Review:  Jun 25, 2005
The Bottom Line: Good photos, poor controller durability, fairly thick, easy to use, great for photo students
Review: I compared all the cameras in this models price range and found that this gave the best quaty images and features for the money. This was our first digital camera, and since it is digital, we take about 100 times the pictures we used to.

My 2 cents about the 4300

Date of Review:  Jul 18, 2003
The Bottom Line: For the price, you get great pictures with excellent color, especially in well-lit areas. For action photos and low-light settings, you might want to look for an alternative.
Review: This is my first digital camera. Until now, I've been using a 120 format Yashika and a Nikon FM. For a while I was torn between getting a film/slide scanner and getting a digital camera. I chose the camera for the convenience and savings in film...

Lucky w/ a Quickie Purchase

Date of Review:  Jul 3, 2005
The Bottom Line: Buy the Coolpix. If it's in your price range and you want good photographs don't pass on this one.
Review: Recently I had to travel without the arrival of a camera [previously ordered but undelivered before my departure time] that was different from the Coolpix 4300.

(I ordered the Konica Minolta DiMage Z10).

In most instances I would...

Nikon Coolpix 4300, nice camera, faulty components

Date of Review:  Aug 6, 2003
The Bottom Line: The camera is a good camera, but I have been greatly soured by the camera having to be repaired after only 31 days of ownership.
Review: The camera is easy to use, has a nice size and feel in the hand. The tripod mount is plastic, should be metal for better wear. Camera had at least one dead pixel on the lcd display ( not a big deal, but distracting).

The camera gave a...

A Complete Novice Review of the Coolpix 4300

Date of Review:  Aug 20, 2003
The Bottom Line: Easy enough to handle for complete newcomers and advanced enough for amateur photographers this camera is the perfect camera to learn on and develop your skills as a digital photographer.
Review: Lets get something out of the way before I start.

I am a Novice. A N00b if you will. To give you an idea of how new I am to digital photography, my previous camera was a Hewlett Packard 215 PhotoSmart (with an included whopping 4 MB...

Nikon Coolpix 4300 - A great starter model

Date of Review:  Jan 25, 2009
The Bottom Line: A good camera for a budding digital photographer
Review: I bought my Nikon Coolpix 4300 digital camera back in 2003, when a camera with 4 mega pixels was near the top of the line (and the top of my budget). At the time, I worked in a photo lab and sold digital cameras, so I knew exactly what I wanted. My...

Coolpix 4300 Is Great For the Semi-Pro or the Novice

Date of Review:  Jun 23, 2004
The Bottom Line: This was a very good camera and is worth purchasing for both the beginner and the near-professional.
Review: I found this camera to be able to do pretty much whatever I need it to. I took it on my vacation to Arizona last week and took over 500 pictures. At least 75% of them came out very well, and the ones that didn't were mostly due to user error. It's...

Outstanding Image Quality!

Date of Review:  Apr 11, 2003
The Bottom Line: While not perfect, few cameras in this price range produce such nice pictures
Review: We recently purchased the Nikon 4300 after deciding that upgrading to a 4 megapixel model was worth the additional investment. We previously had used an Olympus 2 megapixel model, and while the images were acceptable, they still seemed to lack the...

A very good, easy-to-use camera.

Date of Review:  Jan 1, 2004
The Bottom Line: Overall, this is a quality camera, and I'm glad I got it. It offers plenty of manual options, but it also makes a great point-and-shoot because it's simple to use.
Review: I guess I should get all the dirt out of the way first. Like every product out there, this one has some flaws. First of all, it has no built-in lens protection. You are forced to use the lens cap, which is somewhat of a pain. If you forget to remove...

Balance of Easy to Use and Some Options

Date of Review:  Jan 29, 2004
Review: The Coolpix 4300 is the best example I've seen of point-and-shoot plus some more advanced options. In automatic mode, the 4300 takes great pictures. In manual mode, you can adjust a number of settings to get exactly the result you want.
