NEVER BUY A NIKON

I just bought a brand new Nikon Coolpix s550 from Best Buy. I took it out of the box and charged the battery. Started up the camera and the lens opened and extended however the monitor remained black despite pointing the camera at several objects in a well lit room. All the menus worked, BUT THE LENS SEEMED NOT TO OPEN AS THE MONITOR REMAINED BLACK DURING CAMERA AND VIDEO MODE AND WOULD CAPTURE ANYTHING BUT A BLACK SCREEN WHEN PICTURES OR VIDEO WERE BEING TAKEN. (And for those in the peanut gallery... there is no lens cover on this camera). The camera would not function. I also noted that after a extremely light shake to the camera that a "funny" clicking sound could be heard for several seconds. I called Nikon Tech Support, and they asked me to reset the camera. I did and the problem was not fixed. The tech then told me immediately after this to "return it to the store and to get a new camera... it was most likely a manufacturer's defect". I laughed... what makes him think I would ever buy another NIKON product again.
