NFS UNDERGROUND: Best Racing Game Ever

I have always been a fan of the Need For Speed games. My previous favorite was NFS Hot Pursuit. NFS Underground surpasses all other racing games in all aspects. I bought this game for the holidays hoping that I could satisfy my Need for Speed. I had read reviews about the game which had given it high remarks for graphics and new features and overall gameplay. When i first loaded the disk into my playstation, I couldn’t wait.

I watched the introduction video at the beginning of the game and only got myself more excited. Before even entering the "underground" area of the game I played a quick race game and scrolled through the many cars that i could play with. I raced and wasn’t great but was already addicted and enjoying myself. Little did I know the game only gets better in the "Underground" aspect of the game. This part of the game is the section in which you earn style points, money and parts for your car. You get to customize your car with everything from brake calipers to spoilers, to NOS, to weight reduction kits and even 4 vinyl levels. There are (as i know, because i have not yet beaten it) 111 missions. I have finished 106 of them on medium skill level. When your Underground career begins, your car isn’t all that, but as you add parts on and paint your car any color you want, you only get more attached to the game.

I have not yet played online because I have not bought the online adapter yet, but playing this game online can only be more fun. Racing others' customized cars with your far superior car, and leaving them in the dust can only be enjoyable.

I found myself attached to my car as if it truly was my own personal automobile. The levels themselves are very interactive as well. As the traffic halted me from many first place finishes. The levels are never the same, which again only adds to the fun.

My personal favorite of this game, besides customizable rides, is that there is not only racing circuits, there are Drag races, drifts, sprints and lap knockouts. The Drag races are really fun, as you manually shift your car and push in that extra boost from the NOS, but must watch out not to blow your engine. The drifting is very fun too. The point of this is to use your emergency brake to circle turns while skidding. There are also tutorials for Drifting and drag races which explain everything you need to know to be the best.

The one and ONLY thing I don’t enjoy in this game is the fact that, due to the graphics loading takes some time usually. It gets somewhat faster as you get further into the game, but I guess all PS2 games must take some time to load.

This game is a must for anyway who enjoys having fun and feeling part of the game in which you are playing. All I have left to say is that this game is more fun than any racing game I have ever played and it is a game that everyone must have.
