Author's Review
I've had NFL 2K2 for Dreamcast for about a month now. It's a great game. A great game. (Yes, it's worth stating twice). Being a sports fan first and a games fan second, it's still worth saying that the graphics on this game are incredible, by far the best i've seen period.
As far as gameplay goes, it's nice. They had taylor made playbooks for each team, so if you play as Tampa you have a ton of running plays, if you play as the Rams or the Niners, you have a ton of passing plays. One problem I've noticed is that on the easiest difficulty setting, running plays are riduculously easy, you almost automatically get six or seven yards. In any other setting, you might get one or two yards. Passing plays are pretty steady throughout. The other thing that really annoys me is that during critical plays, like when you're tied late in the game or fourth down, the game plays this really loud dissonant annoying music. And for the life of me I can't figure out how to get rid of it. The other problem i've had is during francise mode, you can't add create-a-player. Maybe this has been fixed or maybe it hasn't, but in the copy i have (a used one, presumably from when it first came out) i spent many a frustrating hour trying to add my character to my team. The franchise mode is tons of fun as is trying to make trades, signing free agents and resigning your own players.
Overall, this is a great game, a must for any football fan, and maybe even for any game fan.
