handy little camera
Date of Review: Apr 28, 2008
The Bottom Line: If your a small press, this is a handy little tool to use for your trailers but know your video editing tools well to make it a streamlined project.
I had mine for a little more than a year and basically started to discover it's video camera mode. The only thing I will give low marks on is this is the camera equal to a gaseater in that sense of the word. Other than that the camera is a very good still camera and did all my book covers (recently been using it for vlogging.) I use this camera's memory cards often and how I transfer the pictures to Vista is using a card reader. I need a second card reader for this sometimes.
I hate having to spend nearly $40 in batteries in the year I had the camera in my posession. I bought mine brand new from Radio Shack in Downtown Chicago, I was just released from 12 Kellog and the idea I was playing around with was doing a digital vlog whenever I am in the city or whenever I was out somewhere looking for books of the authors I actually collect books from.
It's well worth the $70 I spent on a digital video camera, when you realize I got it for $100 plus rebate it is almost cheaper than most cameras you get out there and for a still camera it is well worth it. You do need a tripod for doing self-portaits or if you want to do video where you're standing in the video that you don't look like those who sit in front of webcams 95% of the time.
I am curious what kind of video cameras that people on youtube use when they do their vlogs or other shit. I use this camera in combination of Microsoft movie maker to make the videos look like they are a lot older than they are. I am looking around for a back up camera and this for a long time was my back up camera, now it is my primary camera.
I did some video using this thing and I want to get a different video camera for doing the longer footage. You need at least a 1 GB memory card to get going, but I think this camera can take higher memory cards once you realize what you want to do with it. I did the pictures for the fourth Tabloid Purposes entirely with this camera. And it does pictures that are up to 300 dpi off the back. There is a learning curve with each feature.
The still camera is a point and shoot camera, but the video camera has a longer learning curve of them. Tip with the camera if you want to do stills without the tripod, close the screen because it is hard to balance the thing with the screen open.
I noticed a few on here rating this not helpful but I apologize for those ignorant bastards in advance. I've found video footage on youtube.com of someone using this camera for their radio control airplane. As I said you have to get a good number of memory cards for longer videos and it will come in handy for some things while others it will be handier as a still camera. It is a good camera for what it is and what I got it for.
