Does EXACTLY what it is DESIGNED to!

Generally speaking, this is a great product. It does exactly what it is supposed to do. Like the previous reviewer, I live in Arkansas, which is prone to severe weather.

The reason we got one is because our local county has decided that it would be cheaper to get everyone a weather radio rather than maintaining all of the counties tornado sirens.

Great idea in theory. Sometimes the sirens are difficult to hear, then other times when they have been going off recently... you still "think" you hear them when they aren't even going off anymore. In cars... especially these newer cars that are very well insulated against noises from outside... good luck with hearing the sirens at all.

We have had the radio for a couple of weeks now... and trust me... you can have this thing in one room on one side of your house... and if it goes off... it will wake everyone. It also makes our dog bark like crazy, which is ironic because so do the tornado sirens.

Yesterday we had a batch of thunderstorms move through the area late at night/early in the morning... and I wanted to destroy this thing. It probably went off 8 times throughout the entire day... including 3 or 4 during sleeping hours. They were all for thunderstorm and flood warnings. Not a single one for what the citizens of our local county actually is using this in lieu of (tornado).

Keep in mind that this has nothing to do with operational aspects of this radio. It receives the warnings/alerts for your specific county from NOAA, then operates on those.

What would make this thing totally perfect is if NOAA would somehow make it so these weather radios could differentiate/ignore certain warnings/alerts.

Other than that... this is a solid product that does everything it's supposed to do.
