My First Fitness Love

"Men's Fitness" was the first fitness magazine I ever read loyally. Now you're probably looking back at my name and asking yourself, "Why would a woman read a man's magazine? Unless, maybe???" No, you can drop those ideas right now! Not that I find it insulting, just that it isn't true. I read "Men's Fitness" because it wasn't packed with ripped muscles, something that literally turns my stomach, and it still had interesting articles that covered much vaster territory than just pumping iron which was all that most athletic magazines covered. Women's athletic magazines were just "Cosmopolitan" glossed over with sweats. Can we all say promotion? So, what you had was a woman who wanted more information on exercise, but not on weight lifting only, and who was sick of women's glossy makeup and clothing ads. My boss, a man, was the one who first gave me an issue of "Men's Fitness" to read and I had a hard time putting it down and doing my job. Now I sneak my boyfriend's issues and read them. I did find a woman's magazine that does the subject justice, "Fitness", but I still return to my first fitness love quite regularly.
