Author's Review
Hmm I dont think Miata is a fitting name, it basically means "reward" but thats just having one in the driveway. I think ZOOM ZOOM ROADSTER would be a much more accurate description of this pocket rocket.
For a car of these dimensions it is one tough lil car. I had a Mack truck hit me 4 times in the rear (drunk driver switching gears), a bus back up in the front, and had a 3rd degree meeting at 40mph with a highway divider... TOTAL DAMAGE = under $5000 (beyond allignment no mechanical problems). All of you people with your SUVs aint jack cuz my lil baby keeps me safe n sound through concrete n thourgh semi's.
As for the winter capabilities of this vehicle... uhmm there amazing (TIP: it has summer tires so get that worked out before bickering about the snow ride). Personally I was able to drive all winter on summer slicks (don't ask) and able to stand my ground and almost got away with it if it weren't for UPS being four days late with my new Pirellis I wouldn't have hit that divider either.
As for the summer capibilities of this car strap yourself in and try to keep your passenger from having #1 n #2 in your car cause the ride gets to be quite scary as you enter the 125 mph range, at least for them because you are in full control. The steering wheel is the perfect size and fit and beautifully communicates the road right into your fingertips. The stick is quick and precise although I did have a small factory defect that poped it out of 1st when coming from standstil, this was quickly fixed for free and I got an complimentary detailing with it so no hard feelings.
The only recall on it so far is the foglights but thats just a small spring instalation that was overlooked in the design phase, then again the fogs came free with the basic so another free set of clamp/springs wont hurt my Zoom Zoom pride.
For those of you who think that this car has no cargo room, you have obviously never went camping in one. During the summertime I went camping for 4 days about 500 miles away from Chicago and neither the ride nor the supplies were of any bother to me. A short list of what I fit in it:
1) Medium (2 person) tent
2) Large sleeping bag
3) Extra large down pillow
4) Full camcorder setup
5) 8 2L bottles of Pepsi
6) 2 1.5L bottles of water
7) 5gal Gas reserve
8) 2 rolls of paper towels
9) Entire bathroom setup
10) Coat
11) 2 full change of clothes
12) Laptop
13) Quick charger with 20 AA batteries
14) 10pcs of canned food
15) Emergency kit (duct tape, pump, set of tools, etc.)
16) 2 bags of chips
17) 5 books
18) My "full sized" buddy
19) 2 more large bags that didn't fit in the other cars
If your daily commute requires any more room than this, just drive around with a semi because a sports car is wasted on you.
As an additional feat I was able to flip the chair backside-down and sleep in the car for 3 nites with music, A/C, and no snoring. See most people don't realize that the armrest also makes quite a comfy headrest when properly cushioned.
Ohh and did I mention that it makes a hell of a good PA system for pumping music around the campfire?:-D
Another issue that I have encountered (not me but people imagining it) was the one of luxury and shakes in the small car. Well as a previous Sentra (booooo!) owner I am quite happy with being able to feel he bumps in the road and not loosing the feel of it. As for luxury and comfort uhhmmmm I doubt that you can consider it a luxury if your Beemer is serving me as an obsticle course to practice my slaloms ;-).
As for the noise issue, uhmm no duh its loud... now kids lets remember we have no roofing on this bad boy. Engine becoming a nuisance? do what I do... crank up the stereo.
Just in!. S2000 has 240hp and feels like driving a refrigerator with a low center of gravity, typical of Honda isn't it? Sacrificing the fun factor for hard numbers.. ohh yea sounds like a great idea for all corporate users HA the ripoff gets higher numbers than the original well sorry guys I guess Ill take that $10K I saved from not buying your plastic wonder and put it to work on a 550hp turbo with money saved over to buy a big boom box to wipe that H off your nasty rat front :-P
CALL ME LIL,
CALL ME SMALL,
CALL ME SLOW
AND ILL SMOKE YOU *O!!!
