Maytag MGD9700S Dryer

I had the same long drying time problem as previous reviewer. In troubleshooting the problem I found that if I ran it *briefly* without the vent attached -only do this one time for testing, do not run dryer this way again- it worked very well.

I discovered our 18 ft dryer vent was completely clogged from end to end. The dryer senses clogged vent as abnormal and will kill the flame to prevent overheating and subsequent dryer fire.

Used the http://www.linteater.com lint brush from Lowes to clean vent and dryer is now working perfectly.

I also had a similar problem reported elsewhere with door being difficult to close. The solution was simple (thankfully) - there are two folded metal spring clips at top and bottom of door frame that latch the door shut. If one clip is spread wider than the other, you will have trouble closing the door - the top will engage but not the bottom (or vice versa). You can squeeze the clips together or open them up to adjust the door so that each clip grabs the door with the same pressure. Just a small tweak is all it takes. Far easier to actually fix than to explain :-)

Auto sensor seems reliable so far. In fact, I am very impressed by this machine but it is too new in our home to offer unqualified recommendation. First impressions are very good, however.
