Author's Review

This is another Hitchcock classic, not up there with North by Northwest or Rear Window, but still very good. James Stewart stars as an American tourist traveling Europe and Africa with his with and son. By pure chance and coincidence Stewart befriends a man and ends up hearing some information from him that is very important and wanted by others. When this information means that Stewart’s son is kidnapped, he and his wife do whatever it takes to try and find him, eventually traveling to London where the major part of their detective work, and the suspense of the film take place. They feel they cannot trust the police so they end up battle the band guys in a battle of wit throughout. This is a movie with a very clever and enjoyable story premise, with excellent acting and dialog that carries the film beyond just good story line to a good believable storyline that the very gets caught up in and thus feels every suspenseful moment. As with the other Hitchcock movies the characters are funny and charming, normal people that you feel you know by the end of the film, this one has lots of witty and funny one liners and dialog between husband and wife. This is just an all around very solid picture from, the story to the acting to the music to the camera shots to the psychology. A fun one to watch and recommend for fans of mystery and suspense type movies that around based on a reality type of story. Enjoy this and check out Hitchcock’s other great films, it’s hard to go wrong with the master of suspense.
