Product Review

Support from Magellan

by   steveetk ,   Nov 5, 2008

Pros:  Works well most of the time.  Updates available for a modest fee.

Cons:  Lack of support for updates from Magellan is extremely aggravating. No way of contacting Magella.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

I own and am generally pleased with my Maestro 4000. However getting support from Magellan is like pulling teeth.  I tried nemerous times to down load a firmware update (in preparation of buying the maps update), only getting "corrupted file" notification.  Two requests from Magellan support did not even get a reply email.  Does that mean that my $300 gps is near worthless.  Why would I commit to spending $70 for a set of map updates when I can not get the firmware update.  Or is it because the firmware update is for free and maybe the map update will work better.  Can anyone offer a suggestion on what I should try next?
