Author's Review
Well, my $60 Samsung died on me after 18 months of moderate use. So I bought the Memorex based on looks, time display, and price. After hooking it up I realized that my audio is almost non existent. Picture looks great for such a cheap unit, but the audio output on this particular unit is junk.
UPDATE:
The next unit's audio was just fine. However, I have found many things to be extremely annoying. If you jump around much on the disc, the audio tracking gets off. Subtitles always come on. When turned off, does not remember what point you were at. Happens everytime, is extremely annoying. Player gets hung up, and proccesses really really slow when playing around in sub-menus. It's pretty easy for me to lock it up to the point that it shuts itself down. Also, sometimes, and I can't figure out why, you cannot turn the unit back on with the contols on the face. You must find the remote control to turn on the unit, or pull the power cord and restart it that way. So it's not worth the money you save if this is your primary DVD player.
