Product Review

Great idea for Ipod, not so great quality

by   ntwelch ,   Jun 28, 2006

Pros:  no wires, good distance, Pause, Play, FF, RW, Vol UP, & Vol DOWN on headset

Cons:  manufacturer design flaw, 2 pair - each broke within 3 months, heavy, expensive

The Bottom Line:  Excellent idea, but the early production model problems outway the benefits. Wait until logitech or someone else improves the idea of wireless headphones for ipod.

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

Author's Review

I love the idea of no wires and the sound quality of these headphones is excellent. Pause, Play, FF, RW, Vol UP, & Vol DOWN on the headset is excellent. I can walk quite a distance from my ipod before the quality starts to break down.
That said, the cons outway the pros on these headphones. I can't complain about the price since I got these with an excellent rebate (at least, I think the rebate came in on these). But without the rebate, the price is WAY to high for what you get.
I am about 2-3 months into my second set and it looks like they are broke as well - and they haven't been used heavily. I use them at work. I sit at a desk, and I don't use them that often. So it's not like I'm running with them or dropping them or working out and sweating on them - they are in VERY good condition cosmetically.
The headband on both sets formed a crack in the center where they flex to fit on each persons head. On the first pair I didn't think much of it, but apparently the wire that runs between the headphones that sends the signal is affected by this crack. I am able to establish a connection to the bluetooth receiver with the headphones off of my head, but as soon as I flex the headband to place them on my head the signal is dropped and cannot be reestablished until the headband is back in normal position (i.e. off of my head). Apparently when the headband cracks - and it WILL crack - the wire inside breaks. It would be much better if the wiring were not so tightly integrated with the headband (maybe a loose or heavier gage wire that is attached to the outside of the headband - or both) and the headband was better quality.
Second set. It's probably too long to return to Office Depot so now I'll give Logitech a shot.
