Logitech, We were meant to be together, all 3 of us!
Date of Review: Jun 3, 2004
The Bottom Line: Without reservation I can recommend this keyboard and mouse combo, the cordless features make it a must have!
I have been using the Logitech cordless keyboard and mouse four about nine months and now feel I can make a good case for why everyone should have this combo!
Setup: Wow, really this could not have been easier. I was a little worried it would be complicated but it was simple, easier than with cords, of course. Simply inserting batteries and pressing the connect buttons on the mouse and keyboard will get you ready to go. Installing the software was a snap as well.
I have had no issues with staying connected even when moving the mouse and keyboard at different angles around my office. The receiver sits back on my desk behind pics of my kids and some CDs.
Buttons: There are A LOT of buttons, on the keyboard and on the mouse. What is nice about this is that the bundled software helps explain these buttons and helps you program them as you wish. I use several of the button but not all of them. I am in the habit of using my mouse and the shortcuts on my desktop and IE for launching most programs and shortcuts. I have also enjoyed the media buttons as the top of the keyboard. It is a cinch to use them for muting (very handy at work), adjusting the volume or simply launching my media
program. More on the mouse buttons below, under the comfort section.
Cordless issues: None. I have had no problems with the receiver reading my mouse or keyboard. Also the battery life on the mouse is incredibly good. A good charge every 4-5 days is all I have needed and I mouse 8 hours a day at work. I've never changed the batteries in the mouse or the keyboard.
Comfort: I feel both the mouse and the keyboard are very comfortable to use. The mouse is large and is only for right-handers, however. There is a scrolling wheel and scrolling buttons as well and back and forward buttons. Typing on the keyboard is very smooth. It is not jerky nor are the keys stiff. They keyboard has an extended wrist rest that can be removed if you don't use that. This is a WIDE keyboard. I have to move it a little off to the side to get my mouse comfortably into place next to it. But what is nice is that I can move my mouse anywhere on my desk and still use it! Also, I have had no issues with the optical reader on the mouse. I also own and have reviewed the MS Intellimouse and this mouse is at least as good and maybe even better.
I recommend this combination set without reservations. I noticed one Epinonator complained that it crashed his Windows 2000 but I have used it exclusively with my Windows 2000 with absolutely NO PROBLEMS.
UPDATE 02/05: Keyboard went caput! Not sure what happened but it quit being able to connect. I went through all of the troubleshooting steps to no avail. I got tired of trying to work it out and replaced it with a plain old corded keyboard.
Still have not changed the batteries in my mouse.
