Author's Review
Avril Lavignes debut album Let Go is the only CD where I can truly say I love every song. This CD shows off Avrils incredible talent for writing lyrics and beautiful voice. Her songs have an up-beat tune with great rhythm. All of her songs are absolutely extraordinary, but unfortunately many of them are over played on the radio. Avrils four main hits Complicated, Sk8r Boi, Im With You, and Losing Grip are basically played everywhere. You can see her music videos on MTV, you can hear her songs on the radio, and you can read about her on the Internet. Avril Lavignes a gutsy babe waiting to take on the world.
Avrils quest for stardom began in Napanee, Ontario, Canada. The 18 year-old singer always new she wanted to become a singer. Being the middle child she always craved attention. Avril began singing in talent contests and country music fairs at an early age, so she could pursue her dream of being a singer. Avril was discovered in 2000 by Antonio Reid. She was then signed to a contract with Arista records and began working on her debut album. In Avrils spare time she enjoys snowboarding and writing song lyrics.
Avril has an original style, which appeals to many of her fans. She is not some glamour gal that is looking to become a movie star or a spokes person for neutrogen. Shes original. She likes to dress like a skater/punk and that works for her. Many viewers refer to her as a poser. I dont agree with this statement. If you have seen pictures of her before she reached stardom you would realize that she was never the class diva or the class president. She was always original.
THE SONGS:
On Avrils CD there are 13 magnificent songs just ready to be turned into number one hits. I also believe there is a special hidden song on her CD entitled, I Dont Give A Damn. When you place the CD in your computer you can hear the hidden song. Also, there are many extras you can go through including pictures and information on Avril.
Track 1: Losing Grip
Why should I care
Cuz you weren't there when I was scared I was so alone
You, you need to listen I'm starting to trip,
I'm losing my grip and I'm in this thing alone
Losing Grip, is Avrils newest hit single. This was probably my favorite song when I first began listening to her music. but now its so over played on the radio I dont really enjoy listening to it anymore.
Track 2: Complicated
Why you have to go and make things so complicated?
I see the way you're acting like you're somebody else gets me frustrated
Life's like this you
And you fall and you crawl and you break
and you take what you get and you turn it into honesty
and promise me I'm never gonna find you fake it
no no no
Complicated, was Avrils first big hit. I first heard this song on a MTV countdown and loved it! This song is the reason I began listening to Avrils music. Complicated, is probably the most over played song Ive heard. Every time I would turn the radio on or watch MTV this song would be playing. So basically I got tired of this song and I think it should be retired.
Track 3: Sk8r Boi
He was a skater boy
She said see you later boy
He wasn't good enough for her
She had a pretty face
But her head was up in space
She needed to come back down to earth
Sk8r Boi, is a great song. It was her second big hit. The lyrics in this song are amazing. In her song shes basically telling about a girl who would not go out with a guy because he wasnt good enough. Then it does a reverse and he becomes a star, while shes stuck at home. It is easy to relate to this being that Im in high school. The class loser may become a model, while the prom queen becomes a loser. Also, according to rumors this song will be turned into a movie. Who knows maybe Avril will make her acting debut.
Track 4: Im With You
Isn't anyone tryin to find me?
Won't somebody come take me home
It's a damn cold night
Trying to figure out this life
Wont you take me by the hand
take me somewhere new
I dont know who you are
but I... I'm with you
Like Complicated, Im With You is majorly out played. I dont even really like to listen to it anymore.
Track 5: Mobile
Everythings changing when I turn around all out of my control I'm a mobile
Everythings changing out of what I know everywhere I go I'm a mobile
I'm a mobile
Mobile, is probably one of my favorite songs. Mainly because its not over played on the radio. To me the song lyrics dont really make that much sense, I mean what exactly is a mobile? The reason I love this song tho, is because of how the lyrics flow together and it has a great beat.
Track 6: Unwanted
You don't know me
Don't ignore me
You don't want me there
You just shut me out
You don't know me
Don't ignore me
If you had your way
You'd just shut me up
Make me go away
Unwanted, is another great song. It has a terrific beat and great lyrics.
Track 7: Tomorrow
I don't know how I'll feel,
tomorrow, tomorrow,
I don't know what to say,
tomorrow, tomorrow
Is a different day
Tomorrow, is a spectacular song. I love the lyrics to this song. Like in her lyrics, I always get told things and it turns out a different way. But I always try to not think about till tomorrow.
Track 8: Anything But Ordinary
Is it enough to love?
Is it enough to breath?
Somebody rip my heart out
And leave me here to bleed
Is it enough to die?
Somebody save my life
I'd rather be anything but ordinary please
I'd rahter be anything but ordinary please.
Anything But Ordinary is probably Avrils most popular song that has not yet been turned into a music video. This is probably my favorite song on this album. The lyrics, like in all of her songs, are unbelievable. Avril has a talent for being able to capture what many teens think or feel. Like in Avrils song no one wants to be ordinary.
Track 9: Things Ill Never Say
If I could say what I want to say
I'd say I wanna blow you... away
Be with you every night
Am I squeezing you too tight
If I could say what I want to see
I want to see you go down
On one knee
Marry me today
Yes, Im wishing my life away
With these things Ill never say
Things Ill Never Say is another one of my favorites. The lyrics are wonderful. We all have things we want to say but we never do.
Track 10: My World
Can't help if I space in a daze,
My eyes tune out the other way,
I may switch off and go in a daydream,
In this head my thoughts are deep,
But sometimes I can't even speak,
Would someone be and not pretend? I'm off again in my World
My World is another song I love! Which your probably beginning to notice that I love basically all of her songs. This song is kind of like Avrils biography. It mentions how it takes her 5 hours to straighten her hair and she grew up in a small town.
Track 11: Nobodys Fool
If you're trying to turn me into someone else
Its easy to see I'm not down with that
I'm not nobody's fool
If you're trying to turn me into something else
I've seen enough and I'm over that
I'm not nobody's fool
If you wanna bring me down
Go ahead and try
Go ahead and try
Nobodys Fool, is a great song. All through peoples lives they face challenges of people trying to change them. This is basically Avril telling the world your not going to change me so give up. Im sure Avrils producers try to change her skater image, but shes not down with that.
Track 12: Too Much To Ask
Can't you see that you lie to yourself
You can't see the world through a mirror
It wont be too late when the smoke clears
'Cause I, I am still here
Too Much To Ask has a great beat and fantastic lyrics. Like some of her lyrics, this song is like a story. You have a girl who is trying to hold on to her boyfriend, but he decided to choose weed over her.
Track 13: Naked
Because I've nver felt like this before
I'm naked
Around you
Does it show?
You see right through me
And I can't hide
I'm naked
Around you
And it feels so right
Naked is probably one of my favorite songs. Again the song lyrics are amazing. Like what this song describes I wish I would meet someone, where I could act like myself and I dont have to put up a front.
