I set out to find a small fan that I could place in my at-home exercise room in such a way that I could aim it right at my face during my workouts on the treadmill. Because my exercise room at home is small and already cramped with too much equipment, I knew I needed something compact – the smaller, the better. But it had to be STRONG as well. And – it had to be very adjustable because I want it aimed right at my face as I’m sweating up a storm!
I saw the Lakewood High-Velocity HV-18 at Walmart, for 19.99. They had one out of the box, plugged in, and blowing. I was amazed by how much air was coming from it. When they say “high-velocity”, they MEAN it! It was also small, and highly adjustable. It sits on a metal brace that attaches at the sides, only. This way the entire fan head can adjust from “straight ahead” (good if it’s sitting on a desk) to “straight up”. I keep mine on the floor, and adjust it to almost completely straight up so that it aims right at my face.
There are three speeds. Since I want maximum air circulation while I work out, I almost always use the highest setting. The highest setting is the loudest setting, but it’s not too bad. Considering just how powerful this fan is, the noise is minimal.
The one I bought is dark gray, it also comes in a lighter metal color. The switch is plastic and goes from off to high, medium, then low. I feel this fan is well-made, sturdy, and will last for a long time with no problems.
I’m so happy with this product, that I bought a second one - for the other side of the room!
