Well thought out and useful. Love it!

I picked this up after staring at it in the store and reading what some others had to say. I really like the ability to carry it like a backpack, but easily get at the contents. I paid $69 for it at a big box electronics store.

This is a variety of camera bag called a slingpack. It carries like a backback (almost), but due to using a single strap, can be swing around for quick access.

The Slingshot appears similar to a small hiking pack, though it is a bit narrower. the main compartment has some configurable dividers, allowing you to set it up to hold your camera perfectly. It is sized for a small to medium SLR. I have a Canon Rebel XT in mine, though they do make a larger model for folks who need to tote bigger cameras or carry more lenses.

The main compartment is accessed through a panel that is side facing while carrying the pack, but faces upwards for easy access when the pack is swing around. It initially looks awkward, but it really works well. This main lid zips open on two sides for better access, but has a couple of buckles that prevent it from accidentally opening too far and sending your £€n$€$ tumbling to the ground. (One of those well thought out touches I like so much.) A couple of other nice touches in the main compartment are a built in memory card wallet in the lid, (which has pockets for up to 8 CF cards) and a mesh pouch that holds a built in cloth you can pull over your camera to protect it. I don't utilize this cloth, but I do keep my lens cleaning cloth in here for quick access. There are two large padded areas within the main compartment that can hold lenses, flashes, or whatever.

There is a somewhat triangular accessory compartment on the top, which I find very handy. I can carry a second smaller camera in this, or my wife's camcorder. there is a mesh pocket at the back of this compartment.

The zipper compartment on the front is handy for toting spare batteries, a pen, and other small items. Useful, but nothing exceptional about this compartment. The zipper is placed to that it can be opened when the bag is swung around.

There are 3 useful rubberized utility loops on the bag. One on the top compartment, another on the front compartment and a third on what is the right side while the bag is on your back. I sometimes use one of these to carry a small tripod whose legs can fit through the loops. There's also a front loop on the strap, where you can attack a cellphone or other small items.

Another good touch is a built in rain hood for the pack. It hides in the panel that rests against your back and pulls out when needed to pull over the entire pack. Niiicccceee! It's also permanently attached so can't get lost. While on the subject of things that hide, there is a stabilizer strap that tucks away when not wanted, but pulls out and hooks into the main strap so it does not roll off your back while rolling around trying to get a low perspective shot.

The back of the pack is vented so there is some airflow.

I find the only minor drawbacks are:

1)Because of it being a slingpack, it does not carry evenly like a backpack and I find I am constantly adjusting it. I do not fault the pack itself for this. It is the nature of this style and I will get used to it.

2)The ergonomics of this pack are designed for convenience while wearing it, and if you are just carrying it, it is a bit awkward and the large padded strap will be hanging in the way. Again, simply the nature of the beast and not really a flaw, in my opinion.
