Detailed installation instructions and a heavy-duty mounting bracket on this small unit means you won't have to use any addition support mechanisms, although you may have to attach a small strip of wood to you sill to make it fit perfect. Compact design fits in windows with openings as small as about 21-inches wide (or 26-inches measured in the channel where the window slides). The side louvers can be removed to fit smaller windows. The whole unit only sits about 8-9 inches high, which looks great from the inside and outside.
The modern design is super-high efficiency, rating over 10EER - with auto temp control, an economy mode (turns recirculating fan off between compressor cycles), 3-speed fan, and a drying mode to dehumidify. Plus it has a sleep timer, so you can have the whole unit turn off after a few hours (great for sleeping - you don't wake up in an ice box). Comes with a nice, small remote control. Best Buy carries the 6000BTU model; there is also a 7000BTU model.
