odor from washing machine
Date of Review: Nov 2, 2007
The Bottom Line: Would not recommend anyone to lay on the floor to clean out smelly, residual, moldy, unhealthy water from the drain pipe.
The LG washing machine has in my opinion a major flaw. It does not remove all of the water from the machine and leaves water in the area under the drum. The odor from this standing water is not healthy. In plain words, the machine begins to smell. One of the people who handles customer service for LG stated that I (at the age of 72)need to get down on the floor and empty the water from the drain plug each time I use the machine. In addition I should have read page 17 in the instruction manual before I purchased the machine. However, the manual is not available until you purchase the machine. Nor, is there a disclaimer on the information presented on the machine at the time of purchase that this is necessary to do to prevent a smelly moldy odor coming out of the machine. This is a serious flaw. I would never have bought this machine. After demanding to speak to a supervisor regarding the problem, I am now waiting for a service person to come to correct the problem if it is possible. I have never had to lay on the floor to empty the drain of a washing machine.
