Krups Aroma Control coffee maker

by   wallysdad ,   Nov 22, 2005

Pros:  Steel {unbreakable } caraf. Quiet brewing. Deep basket for some strong brew if needed.

Cons:  Must be careful when filling the water tank.

The Bottom Line:  I recommend this coffee maker. It makes good tasting coffee and it's good looking.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I purchased the Krups Aroma Control coffee maker { the one with the stainless steel pot } almost two weeks ago. I've used it about 9 times so far. I bought it because I like the idea of coffee in a caraf instead of coffee sitting on a burner going stale or getting that burned taste if I go off for awhile. The aroma control feature was also of interest to me. I don't consider myself a coffee snob but I do grind whole beans just before brewing. So far the coffee has been very good. I checked with epinions before I bought this model. I Locktighted the handle screw before using because that seemed like a common problem here even though the pot handle shipped to me tight. As far as temperature is concerned...rolling boil water is 180 degrees. Just brewed coffee from the new Krups, out of the
preheated caraf, pours out at 170 degrees. In an hour the coffee poured into a cool mug measured 150 degrees. Not burn your tongue hot but hot enough for me anyway. If you share a pot with others then I think overall remaining heat isn't as much of an issue. If you want the coffee to sit more than a hour or so then transfer the coffee to a good preheated air pot. That will keep the coffee just brewed hot for at least 5 hours.
The maker itself is tall but it fits under my cabinets. The aroma control feature is something that you can see built into the filter basket. The jury is still out on if it actually works as advertised and improves the overall flavor. So far I'm pleased and don't regret the purchase.
