Author's Review
I bought this camera because I take photos of my products for my web site and for instructional booklets for craft and basket kits. It came with the dock which makes uploading to the computer a breeze. I also bought a battery charger and extra rechargeable batteries, but because the camera's battery recharges on the dock, I haven't had to use new batteries in over a year. That alone is a worthwhile feature.
It's a small camera, lightweight, and comfortable in the hand. I find the menus easy to navigate. The camera is durable and well-designed.
However, I will say that the on-off and mode dial is a bit stiff and I do not like the lever that operates this dial. Also, the directional toggle lever is a bit awkward and uncomfortable to use.
I have used other Kodak digital cameras - there are two other Kodak digital cameras in our extended family - and I like the directional left-right-up-down controls right on the flatter button dial.
The camera takes exceptionally clear photos and allows for zooming in on detailed shots of my basketry stitches or techniques. I also use the zoom for closeup photos of garden flowers or grandchildren sleeping - tricky Grandma!
The flash options are great - no flash, red eye, fill flash or auto flash. I have used the fill flash for close-up photos of flowers and it really improves the photos.
For the price, it's an exceptional value. I like Kodak digital cameras. They are packed with features that are easy to use and seem very intuitive.
I also enjoy the movie making feature, complete with sound. I make short movies of my grandchildren or leaves falling from trees. It's less conspicuous than a movie camera in some situations, and you can email short clips to friends.
For the work I do, a 4 MP camera is sufficient. A consideration with digital cameras is the size of the photos and storage on the hard drive. The higher resolution, the larger the file.
The Schneider Kreuznach 33mm-132mm lens is top quality, and it conveniently retracts into the camera body for safety. I didn't want to deal with an annoying lens cap, so I am very pleased with this feature.
The metal body is very sturdy and it's attractive looking, not too small and certainly not heavy - it's just the right size for my hands.
I've had this camera for over a year now and it's still performing beautifully and reliably.
