2000 Kia Spectra..a Hidden Surprise

This is the second Kia i purchased used. My other opinion on the 2000 Kia Sportage wasn't high, so I wasn't expecting much from this car. That's where I was surprised! I'm a 6'4 295 lb man. I fit COMFORTABLY in this car. That was the first surprise. The handling is VERY good. Sure, it's no jackrabbit, but the Spectra can keep pace easily on the interstate. I didn't realize i was doing 75 mile. That's how SMOOTH this car is.

The positives: I paid $3200 for this car. Did I get my money's worth? ABSOLUTELY! Why? Because this car is NOT a Honda, Acura or an Infiniti. It's a BASIC car to get you from point A to point B. You're fooling yourself if you think otherwise. Ride= GREAT Handling= GREAT Gas mileage= I averaged 27 MPG. THAT was a big plus for me! Trunk is a hatchback with split back seats. You can haul a lot of stuff it.

Ok here's the negatives. The view out of the back window stinks, to put it delicately. The sound system is like listening to an old transistor radio, strange because it was from the manufacturer. The seats are stiff. Not recommended for real long distances (I commute 120 miles roundtrip daily). The cupholder is TERRIBLE. I guess KIA threw it in as an afterthought. I think the the engine is alittle underpowered for the car.

Do I recommend this car? YES!
