Johnson & Johnson Acuevue 2 Contact Lenses

My first experience with seeing correctly came in grade school when eye tests were given. Unbeknownst to me trees, houses, people had details you could see even from far away. I was absolutely overwhelmed, stunned and thrilled when I first saw all the details in the scenery around me. The fact that it meant wearing glasses was not an issue at that age. I had little cats eye plaid frames. As I grew older I became self conscious about glasses and would not wear them, even in a movie theatre. I would sneak them off and on. Then came lenses, hard lenses. I found these so difficult to wear I began to wear my glasses again, resignedly, all the time.

Once soft lenses came on the market I was home free. I now wear Acuevue 2 Contact lenses disposables although I did wear the 24 hours type of lenses a long time ago because I was on Ambulance Corp duty and had to be able to hop out of bed at night and go right to a call.

Acuevue contact lenses are thin, comfortable lenses and acuevue contacts are healthier for your eyes because they are made of a highly oxygen permeable material and you replace them frequently. They are soft, easy to handle and comfortable to wear. I find they do a very good job correcting my vision. My vision is particularly bad so this is a real plus.I am a 4.0 and sometimes a 4.50. I also have astigmatism. I am near sighted, very near sighted. I still need "granny" glasses to read but Acuevue does make a bi focal version if you are interested in one lens serving a dual purpose.

Of course, to purchase lenses, you must have an up to date eye examination then you can order them on line or at any local eye doctor's office. They even have lens specialists that come to my eye doctor's office to make sure I have the correct fit.

I buy my lenses on line and always check the different site to get the best price. They are then delivered to my door within days. I buy several months supply at one time.

I have also experimented with colored lenses which were quite a kick. I had lilac and have normally brownish hazel eyes. They are also available in green, hazel, aqua and blue.

I find wearing lenses are still something I am conscious of. I am careful about make up , putting it on only after the lenses are in. I always make sure my hands are clean when I insert my lenses. I also make sure, after a few mishaps to have a piece of paper towel under the area I am hovering over when inserting the lenses. I have spent way to much time searching the bathroom carpetmat and floor when I've thought a lens was in and found out it was gone, not in my eye. Sometimes I get lucky, sometimes I don't.

I Scuba dive and can wear my lenses under my dive mask without a problem.

Slide the lens with your index finger to any exposed area of white(sclera) and you can safely pinch it off from there.

To insert: I put a few drops of wetting solution in the lens, hold my bottom lid down with one hand and slide the lens onto my eye wit my other hand. I balance the lens on my pointer finger. It also helps to put in rewetting drops just before removal. Be sure your hands are clean and always use a good lens solution to store your lenses. Follow the guidelines, changing into new lenses every two weeks. You will more than likely feel them getting a little uncomfortable when it's time to put in a fresh set.

I would love to have perfect vision but since I don't I'm really thankful that there is a solution. I love my Acuevue 2 lenses and would highly recommend them. Just a thought though, each person's eyes are different so what works for my eyes may not work for yours.
