Jeremiah Johnson

As a woman, this movie, which came out the year I was graduating high school (1973) isn't considered a "Chick Flick" even if Robert Redford is the star. Still, women who, like many men, dream of the wild west and when things were simpler will love this film.
Redford starts the film as a town dweller who is lured to the life of a "Mountain Man." What he finds out, rather quickly, is that this life is extremely dangerous and, at times, really funny. The scenery is a character of it's own and some of it was filmed on Redford's property in Utah.

The great actor Will Geer plays an old mountain man who helps Redford through a few of his initial challenges and through a series of events and despte wanting to be alone, Redford ends up with a Native American wife that doesn't speak English and a white "son" that doesn't speak at all. I loved this film so much I bought it. I love films like this including "Lonesome Dove" the television movie that is about 6 hours long and I'm really loving "Deadwood" that is currently on cable television. If you like this type of earthy, back in time type of entertainment, you'll love this film.
