Author's Review
In this 1976 horror movie, Richard Jaeckel plays the role of a very sadistic maniac who raises sharks to kill on command and he doesn't care who the person he commands his sharks to kill is or where the hell they are coming from. This man has no blood whatsover.
This man raises as many as twenty sharks and they are his pride and joy. He is a loner and does not have any friends. The only people who he associates with are his pet sharks. He even goes swimming with them just to keep them company. And of course, the sharks in return seems to enjoy their company with their human master. It's too bad, these sharks are not trained to call their master "Pops." LOL!
There is this one scene that really strucks me and that is the one when the maniac lets loose his sharks in a large aquarium where an underwater show has taken place at a restaurant/bar. While the female performer is performing her act, here comes the sharks, coming at a very high rate of speed and attacking the hell out of the woman. She is killed instantly and what prompt others to take action was the frozen popping eyeball expression the woman had and that made it very suspicious for the police to go after the maniac, but by that time, it is too late. He has already gotten away and of course, he ends up taking his own life so that he never has to face justice. That is how truly screwed up this guy is.
Director William Grefe has done a superb job in directing this very thriller and killer of a horror movie. He has directed the scenes very well and the sharks in this movie were pretty well trained to even do their stunts in attacking the woman. This is what I call "real special effects." The woman's double did a superb job in doing playing the role of a shark attack victim. It was sooo super!
Richard Jaeckel did a great job in his role as a sadistic maniac. He sure does fit the description of one and he was able to carry out this role very well. He had that talent, that's for sure.
I find that this movie is an excellent of a thriller because this reminds me of the 1971 movie "Willard" where the actor was also a sadistic maniac who raised a bunch of pet rats just like Jaeckel did in this movie. The actor in "Willard" was also a loner and associated only with his pet rats.
All in all, this movie is excellent.
I strongly recommend that children under 13 years of age do not watch this movie as this contains violence.
I have only watched this movie on television, but I sure would not mind renting this movie because I enjoy watching this.
