Author's Review
I bought the Jack Lalanne's Power Juicer after seeing the informercial several times. I have had experiences with other juicers and have not been happy with the amount of juice extracted, the wasted pulp and the terrible cleanup process. This one looked different, so I bought it.
Wow. I am impressed, surprised and more. The Power Juicer is everything I wanted it to be and more. It really is great.
First off, the machine is attractive. It looks good, and has great functional design. The powerful motor is over 3500rpm and it has a heavy solid construction. Built in features like the locking bar that won't allow the machine to function unless it's locked in and the overheat device make it safe and durable. The machine also has a large chute for the food so you are not cutting in small pieces, most things you juice will go in whole. The pusher is big and steady and the machine operates quietly and efficiently.
The amount of juice extracted is impressive, so is the quality of the pulp. My first juice concoction was 2 apples, 3 oranges and half a cantaloup and I got over 64 ounces of juice. Impressive. I haven't had a juice yet that I haven't liked. Homemade V8 is great. As are smoothies made in the blender with fresh juice, ice and anything else you can throw in.
The juicer is easy to disassemble and clean. There is no guesswork as to how to put it back together, you have arrows lining everything up. Nice design. Be careful when adding items though, cause the blade will tear things up and throw it back out the chute so always have the pusher in place after adding something to be juiced. And, don't force it.
The juicer also comes with very handy manuals that tell you what to juice and what not to. It also has hundreds of juice recipes and ideas, and a manual explaining why juicing is healthy and what vitamins and minerals you get from each type of juice. It also gives great tips on how to keep the machine in great condition and how to treat it right.
Also, DON'T throw the pulp away!!! There is no waste. There are recipes for the pulp too! Everything from breads to cakes to salsas to baby food to pasta sauces, you really do use everything that you buy, and that's awesome. I made a spice cake with my first pulp batch and it turned out GREAT! I also made some pulpsauce, just like applesauce but with my fruit pulp.
You are only limited by your imagination. It is great fun and you can do a ton of things with it. It is also easy to order replacement parts such as blades and screens and they are not expensive.
I recommend getting the optional accessory kit which includes a platform for the juicer, an overflow container, a strainer, a cleaning brush and a measuring cup. It makes it easier to use and clean the juicer. It is available for 19.95 plus shipping. Some juicers can be purchased with the kit as a special bundle.
