Great, for about 10 days

I previously had the more expensive Bionaire cold steam humidifier from Sharper Image. It lasted for a few years, stopped working, and I decided to replace it with a hot steam humidifier for a number of reasons, primarily that I only use it in the winter.

I chose this one mostly by price, and to a lesser extent the tank size. I know that people constantly call the cleaning process a "con" with all these humidifiers, but that's just the nature of the beast: all parts have to be cleaned and soaked frequently, and any shortcoming in the cleaning process make the thing fairly unappetizing in a short time.

It worked well, quietly. So I got a second one for the bedroom. The unit #1 broke (maybe 3 weeks after purchase). I had the sly idea that I could return it (although beyond my retailer's return policy) in the box that unit #2 came in. Then #2 broke, after less than a week.

Was just fine when it worked. And I'm sure they would offer a warranty replacement, but they don't cover any of the shipping (back to the manufacturer, and they ask for $10 to ship a refurbished unit back to you).

Maybe it's bad luck, but I can't recommend this.
