I needed a new fan for my guest room. It gets so hot and stuffy with just one fan. My husband and I bought the fan about 3 years ago from Wal-Mart. The fan has been used about every day. I have been using the fan even during the winter months, because it gets very stuffy here even in the winter. I have had no trouble with the fan. It runs very good. We have a ceiling fan, but I wanted a floor fan to circulate the air better. I also use this room to practice my guitar in, so I wanted to be comfortable. We bought the Honeywell HF810 Mega Turbo Floor/ Box Fan. This fan has kept me very comfortable, through the summer and winter.
I have had a very good experience using this fan. The fan is not real noisy, I can still hear my guitar. The fan does a great job circulating the air. The fan is easy to move around. It is not real heavy, it weights only about 8 or 9 pounds. It has a long cord. I love that the fan can go anywhere. I like best that the bars on the front are tight together less than 1/2 inch. I like this because I don't have to worry about the little kids putting fingers in the fan.The blades are also far enough to the back so the finger would be too short to touch them. The blades are made out of plastic.
The Honeywell HF810 Mega Turbo Floor/Box Fan is made of black plastic. It is a round fan that is 16 inches in diameter. The depth of the fan is 5 inches. The fan has 3 plastic blades that blow
the air. The blades are about 6 inches long and 3 and 1/4 inch wide. The cord is about 6 foot long. The fan has three different speeds, high, medium, and low. I prefer the low speed as that is just enough to circulate the air. There is a handle above the control dial for easy carrying.
The Honeywell HF810 Mega Turbo Floor/Box Fan, is on a 9 inch wide by 18 inch long base. This holds the fan and the base has a 12 inch side that is attached to the fan, and this makes the fan able to move up or down instead of the old stationary fans that had to stay the same way. I love that the fan has swivels on each side of the base that I can set this halfway or closer to the floor, or all the way up to the celling, if I want the air to blow that way. The back of the fan has radial fins with 2 round braces or supports. There is a 5 inch plate where the motor is covered.
The front of the fan in the middle has a four inch plate with the name, Honeywell. The front of the fan cover has 2 underneath round braces one is eight inches and the other is twelve inches. The bars are all covered coming out from the Honeywell plate. There are about 35 curved bars, less than 1/2 inch apart.
What I hate about the fan is the front and back does not come off easily for cleaning. It can get very dirty sitting on the floor. However, I finally figured out a way to clean the fan the easy way. When my husband is not home I go out to his shop and use his air hose from the compressor, and blow the dirt out, it works wonderful. There is no real fast way to take the fan apart. I have discovered from looking at the back of the fan with a magnifying glass that there are accessible from the back 9 screws that hold the two half housing together. I will need a number one Phillips screwdriver because the screws are deeply recessed into the housing. It could be taking apart this way, and cleaned. I try this but found it to be too much work, so I do it the easy way using the air hose. The old box fans with four screws on each side were easier to clean.
The fan was made in China, another thing I hate about the product.
Overall, this has been a very reliable fan. It is still running fine after three years. The fan does a really good job. The fan in Florida is a real necessity and it gets a real work out living in this state. I would definitely buy another Honeywell if I needed another fan. I would give the fan four stars and recommend to everyone. Thanks for reading.
