High Maintenance!

I have had a very bad experience with this unit. It was installed in 1999 and has been a big disappointment. It is poorly designed & built. The plastic housing has cracked in several places. Super glue & metal duct tape are currently holding it together. The whole unit leaks a LOT! Make sure you keep buckets underneath it to catch the overflow! I've had to replace the water feed-tube at least 4 times. If the plastic tubing is too soft, it kinks & restricts the water flow. A service tech told me during a service call that I should put a small amount of dish soap in the water distribution tray to break the "surface tension" in the tray. Any amount of soap in that tray causes foaming that leads to major leaks outside of the water-containment frame around the filter! Those leaks run out the bottom of the unit right on top of the electrical plug-in! That's a short & possible fire waiting to happen!
If I were "Consumer Reports" magazine, this unit would receive a "Not acceptable" rating. For all the other good products that Honeywell makes, they should be absolutely ashamed of this one. They should offer current owners of this model a free replacement unit that fixes all the issues with the current unit. Oh, I do agree that it is a water HOG.
