Author's Review
I am currently leasing a 2004 Honda Accord, 4dr. automatic LX. I leased the car new in August of 2004 and I LOVE it. I must admit I really wanted the EX (a step up from the LX) just for the sun-roof, but my budget-conscious husband encouraged me to settle for the LX. Overall, I am very happy with the car.
We purchased the car in the color graphite which is a dark gray. It has gray, cloth interior with an even darker gray dash. There are a couple of downsides to the dark dash--one is that it shows dust quickly (and I am not known for frequently dusting my car!), the other is that it gets very hot inside during the summer if you live in an area with a warm summer climate. But, it's not so bad. And when polished and dusted, the dark dash does look very sophisticated.
The LX comes with cruise control, power locks, power windows, intermittent wiper control, in-dash radio and single CD player, and front and side-curtain airbags. The backseat will hold 3 people, all with full-seat belts (not just the annoying lapbelt). If not hauling 3 people, the middle of the rear seat folds down as an armrest/drink holder. There is also a small fold down section so that you can access the trunk. Or, if desired, the entire back seat folds down so that you have quite a flat, large area for luggage.
The car gets good gas mileage, and on the highway gets around 30 mpg--although the dealer told us it would get 34 on the highway, we have never gotten quite that good.
In the two years we have had the car, we have had NO problems whatsoever with it. In addition, the oil only needs to be changed every 10,000 miles, instead of every 3,000. That's really nice if you are like me and hate to take the car in for servicing.
The warranty is 3 years/36,000 miles, and 3 years is also when our lease ends. Unless there is a deal on leasing new Accords at that time, we will certainly purchase this car. It drives smoothly, is comfortable, is roomy enough for a family, looks stylish, and gets good gas mileage. What more could you want in a car...except, maybe a sunroof?!?!
