Author's Review
This winter my office at work was too hot so when a vacancy appeared I moved into an office that was to be kindly frigid. I love being cold so while this new office was part of a cubicle farm it seems worth while. Then spring arrived and the hot offices are now comfortable and the cold office is now hot. Well I could move again as soon as someone else leaves but that could be a long wait, so I went to Staples® and purchase a desktop fan.
Lack of choice
I must admit I was expecting more choice. My first stop was K-mart and they had nothing I liked, then I stopped off at Staples and I picked this fan because of its small size and purported power.
I like but my monitor doesnt
Have you ever wondered what the refresh frequency of your monitor means. For normal word processing the setting are almost meaningless only when playing high velocity games does a super high fresh rate mean a thing. I read an article talking about headaches even in word process if you refresh rate is to low so I had mine set at 85 hertz. This caused a small amount of flicker with my monitor so I lowered it to 70 hertz the flicker got worse. When lowered to 65 the flicker disappeared
Hanging was not meant to be
The unit claims to be designed to be hung from a wall if desk space is limited, this might be true but mounting material is not included in the box, and I didnt have an instruction book to tell me how to mount it. My hope was to just hang it on the ledge of my cubicle but that was not to be. I might be able to use adhesive hooks to tape it to my wall, but I havent purchased them yet.
CUTE and PRACTICAL
The unite is very cute. It has a sleek organic look and a light grey color. A jet shaped fan cover seems to help force more air out a smaller area leading to a cooling effect. As for cleaning removing the cover seems to require a screw drive making it very unlikely I will ever clean this fan.
The unit has a large knob is a fairly hard to reach location to control speed. Low, medium and high. The unit has the normal push tab that stops it from rotating.
Papers Papers ever where and not a spot of desk
OK I admit it messy desks and oscillating fans do not go well together. I word of warning when employing this or any fan be sure you have a generous supply of paper weights or a clean desk. I would like to take a moment to talk the Illinois Venture Capital Association for the lovely Abraham Lincoln paper weight, it has come in very handy.
