Pros:  Flat screen without the aperture grille damper wires. Great picture. Low cost

Cons:  Could use better geometry correction controls

The Bottom Line:  For less than $400 the cm771 has image quality rivaling 19" monitors that cost $200 more. You get the advantages of aperture grille monitors without the cost or damper wires.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

The cm771 is a very good monitor. Perhaps not a great one but I submit that for less than $400 delivered there is no great 19" monitor. The best feature of this monitor is the Ergo=Flat tube that finally provies a non aperture grille flat tube monitor. While I appreciate the quality of Sony FD Trinitron and Mitsubishi Diamondtron moniotrs the are useless to me as the damper wire are far too distracting. The image quality of the cm771 with regards to color accuracy, absolute image focus and geometry correction is not quite up to the best aperture grille monitors but considering it costs half as much is still a very good monitor. Add to that the fact that it takes up very little desk top space and I think you have a price/performance winner. I personally have had no quality control problems but I know that others have. If this concerns you then perhaps you should buy from a local delaer if possible in order to facilitate easy exchage. All in all...recommended.
