There should be a recall!
Pros:
Great price. Great looks. So many features. Great size.
Cons:
Why own a laptop when you need a mouse to even use it?
The Bottom Line:
This model needs a recall from HP. If they keep selling this to unsuspecting consumers, their going to be looking at a class action lawsuit soon.

Author's Review
Great laptop with so many options for the price, but everyone has a defective touch pad that HP refuses to acknowledge. I had this unit built using HP's online store. I had almost every option you can put into this thing added. What I got was a great looking, super fast, compact computing monster. I mean this laptop can burn DVD's while I surf the net and talk on MSN across country. Then it can write a custom label on the top side with it's LightScribe technology. The screen looks just great and the sound is pretty good too. The problem though that will make you want to toss this computer out the window is the touch pad. It has a terrible factory defect that reduces the usefulness of this great little computer to garbage as far as a laptop is concerned. I cannot use this thing on the couch. I need to have it on a desk where I can use my bluetooth mouse with it to get my work done. The touch pad problems are many. First, it's so jumpy to use (no driver, settings, etc. can help around it). HP's arrogant online support fought me on this so many times. The touch pad is completely DEAD at the bottom 1/3rd of the pad when going up and down. I mean the touch pad will let you go left and right but not up and down. The scrolling feature is useless because the page shutters up and down when trying to scroll because of the touch pad issue at the bottom. I returned the unit for repair after HP sent me a box to return the unit in. When I got it back, the touchpad was no better at all but now the beautiful top cover is scratched. I went to Best But, CompUSA, and Circuit City. What I found is this: ALL the dv2000's are this way. Not one I tried had a good touchpad. The dv6000's have what looks like the same touch pad but it's not. I measured it and it's ever so slightly larger and fully functional. HP's service department cannot fix this problem because it's a factory defect and HP has not come up with a cure. They just will not admit it. I now purchased a fully loaded dv6000t and am fighting HP to get my dv2000t fixed (replaced with a dv6000 is more like it). They'll never be able to fix the scratch without totally dismantling this brand new computer and replacing the entire upper case. They still won't admit that people on the internet are all talking about their bad experience with the touch pad and that there have been many returns.
Do yourself a favor,,, check the internet notebook forums and DO NOT buy the dv2000. It's a defective computer that HP won't recall. The dv6000 is great with a slightly larger screen to boot. Not much larger footprint and not much heavier. Cost is exactly the same. The dv2000 should be cancelled by HP until research into the touch pad problems are completed and a resolution is reached.
Anyone want to buy a slightly used dv2000? I need to unload this boat anchor.
