2006 Hummer H3 Base Model
Pros:
Used Price, seats 5, folding rear seats,XM,ONSTAR, 6cd Monsoon, decent towing
Cons:
lacks torque and HP, haphazzard build and TSB's. Gas mileage. Front Seats uncomfortable
The Bottom Line:
Very little wind noise, suprisingly. This vehicle would be great for someone who needs an all time 4x4 climate area, but get a warranty.

Author's Review
My 2006 Shadow Green Metallic Hummer H3, is a base model, with an upgraded automatic transmission. It does have the standard 3.5L 5 cylinder engine, with power windows, power door locks, Monsoon 6 cd am/fm with XM satelite radio. Also ONSTAR communication system, and fog lights. I paid 15,997 for this vehicle 11/08 with 29k still under factory warranty from a HUMMER dealership in Fife, WA. Overall, the capability of this vehicle is remarkable, but honestly the need of a all time 4x4 vehicle where I live in North Dallas Texas isnt required. Just like other highend name brand SUVS, you wont see me off road this SUV too often. The gas mileage is 15-16 city and 17-19 highway. The front seats are NOT comfortable for any distance. The Driver/passenger window and lock control panel is BEHIND you on the door, this is a major design flaw which they fixed in later years. The overall rugged build quality has been put to test. Within the first 3k miles (drive home from WA) the 3rd cylinder failed, and engine had to be replaced, and the door sensors have failed, causing a malfunction with the door locks (both under TSB and fixed under warranty at my local HUMMER dealer for free). I hope other than oil changes, this is my only visit to the dealer for a long long time. Maintenence at my local Plano Dealer is fairly priced and comparable to my Suburbans.
I really miss my Suburbans, they haul more, seat more, more comfortable, and get about the same mileage, with cheaper insurance. If you purchase one, get one under full manufactuers warranty, or on a certified pre owned warranty program. Hummer warranty are standard 4 years-50,000 miles from manufactuer date, or whichever comes first.
Tow package should be standard!
