Slow Cookers or Crock pots - whatever name you chose to you call them, are great time savers! I use mine throughout the year and recently picked up another one; the Hamilton Beach 33162 Stay or Go Stainless Steel 6-Quart Slow Cooker
WHY BUY THIS SLOW COOKER?
The great thing about a crock pot is that you can throw a few items in it in the morning, and then forget all about it until dinner time! I have made a ton of soups, ribs, roast etc. but it wasn’t until recently that I have been “forced” to make things I normally wouldn’t have tried! I have now made meatloaf, fish and the best roasted chicken ever!! All because the heating element in my oven broke - I have no idea how or why, but it did. It was taking twice as long to cook anything and then I noticed a spot where the heating element had actually broken into two pieces! The bad news was that it would have to be ordered and take a few weeks to arrive!
The next day after ordering, I went out and picked up the Hamilton Beach 33162 Stay or Go Stainless Steel 6-Quart Slow Cooker. I had been thinking about getting another crock-pot for larger groups and pot lucks so this just pushed me into it! Being able to use two, allowed me to continue making all the meals without an oven.
There are a lot of great reasons to choose the Hamilton Beach 33162 Stay or Go Stainless Steel 6-Quart Slow Cooker Here are mine -
•THE SIZE & SHAPE
I like the oval shape much better than round, deeper model. It has a 6 quarts capacity removable stoneware crock which can hold a large chicken and still have room for a variety vegetables. I should also mention that I also like the fact it is silver with black accents. That alone would have sold me over all the ones with prints - they are never even close to matching my kitchen!
•THE LID
Who would think a lid would be worth mentioning as a reason to buy a crock-pot but this one is! First off, the lid is glass with a rubber gasket. On the top of the lid, is a holder for the included, black stirring/serving spoon. This is a great as I always have a spoon right there and it is great to be able to store it for transporting and then using at pot-lucks. Another nice lid feature is the metal Clip-tight lid locks These are on the sides and allow you to lock down the lid to prevent messy spills when moving the pot. I actually use it while it cooks as well - I set the control and then clip it closed as an extra precaution. Add in the lid rest that keeps it out of the way while you stir and/or serve and you have a terrific lid!
• NICE EXTRAS
The Hamilton Beach 33162 Stay or Go Stainless Steel 6-Quart Slow Cooker looks great and has oversized, cool to the touch handles. I like the fact they are taller (as opposed to close to the same height) making it easy to carry it without getting burned.
There are three heat settings: High (166-207°F), Low (120-167°F) and Warm (160°F) I have found the settings to be right on - I have never had anything over cook or burn. I used the Low for roasting those great chickens. I had placed both halves of an orange in the inside and it came out sooooo moist! I also use it for meatloaf and then the high setting for soups, spareribs, Swiss steak etc. when time is more limited.
A somewhat different extra is the party recipes which come with matching name tags. You can use the ones that match their recipes (Jambalaya, Hot Wings, etc) or make your own and place them in the nameplate holder on the front of the unit. This is a nice way to identify what’s inside for your guests.

I really like the Hamilton Beach 33162 Stay or Go Stainless Steel 6-Quart Slow Cooker. It is a lower priced, basic unit which works well. I like the way the lid clips closed, the cool to the touch handles and the way the spoons is stored on the lid. The stainless steel works well with my kitchen and the nameplate makes it easy to label the contents. It really is a great crock-pot and deserves the full 5 stars.
