Do NOT buy the HWD1000 combo washer/dryer!!

I bought the Haier HWD1000 because I wanted to maximize space in my condo and it was affordable. I read several bad reviews of the unit but decided to try my luck anyway, and boy did I regret it.Don't make the same mistake!! I got the unit in Aug 2008, and the door sensor broke in Sep. After getting it repaired 3 weeks later, I was able to use the unit until early Dec, when the motor went out. I was told I would have to wait until Feb 09 to get the replacement motor, so in Jan 09 I told them I wanted a refund. They agreed to the refund and now in mid-March 09 and 12 calls to customer service, I still haven't received a check. Even for the few months it worked, it didn't meet my needs -- I had to air dry everything, which meant I couldn't do sheets or towels in my small space. A while back I bought a used stacked energy efficient washer/dryer off Craigslist and it's worked like a dream. It's definitely worth having a little less space.
