Pros: A radio easy to empower without batteries or a wall-plug.
Cons: Medium-quality performance.
The Bottom Line: This is a fine radio of its type and I recommend it for emergency usage and other uses as well.

Review: The Eton Grundig FR200 portable emergency radio has a number of features that remind me of a Swiss Army Knife. The radio has things about it you don t normally associate with a portable radio, but which add to its appeal and could actually be useful...

The Bottom Line: Great for blackouts and the beach

Review: I published a small part of this review on a radio enthusiast web site. However, much of this review is new.
First of all, what is a survival radio anyways? Is it a device that is supposed to work for years without power? Probably not. For... |

Pros: Fine tuning knob. Common, easily-replaceable, rechargeable battery pack.
Cons: Image problem on SW2. Some backlash in tuning, making even fine tuning difficult.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: I bought this receiver because of its emergency generator. The light is a useful added feature. Of my six shortwave radios, this is the one I'll take with me, should there be a hurricane or national emergency. But there is a serious problem.

Review: What can you say about Grundig? For years i've been using an antique Grundig shortwave in my workshop - it comes in beautifully and looks great. When it comes to electronics, Grundig is a very reliable name.
It was then an easy decision... |

Pros: Self-powered, small, light, easy to operate, inexpensive
Cons: Shortwave performance is not great
The Bottom Line: Good value for the money, good performance on AM / FM, poor-to-mediocre Shortwave performance. A good cheap expendable radio to take out camping, or for emergency use.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: I was looking for a radio for my home preparedness kit. I thought the combination of battery power, self-power (mechanical crank), external power, flashlight, AM / FM / Shortwave would be ideal.
I was happy to receive, for $39.95, a small,... |

Pros: Great value, fantastic AM reception, very good FM reception, nicely constructed.
Cons: Shortwave stations "drift" slightly, requiring periodic re-tuning.
The Bottom Line: Grundig has a winner with the FR200. It's hard to imagine getting this good a radio for under $40. And it never needs batteries or cords.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: From an energy usage standpoint, a small portable radio has to qualify as pretty "green" entertainment: With a power draw of just a few watts, you could plug one in and power it all month for pennies' worth of electricity.
Yet, when you... |
