Author's Review

The GRUNDIG FR200 is a versatile, light weight radio. It contains a rechargeable battery pack, similar to cordless phones, a flashlight, and an AM/FM/shortwave band radio. You can recharge the batteries with an 12 volt, 100mA, AC adapter or with the built in hand crank. You can also use standard alkaline batteries without removing the rechargeables. Tuning the radio is simple with the fast and slow knobs. The radio produces plenty of volume through the built in speaker or through standard MP3/walkman headphones. The radio features and handle for carrying around and a handy case with pocket. When I go camping, I usually bring this radio along. It is big enough that I can find it in a dark tent by feeling around and it is not cylindrical, so it can roll into a far corner. The radio can be laid face down in the net at the top of my tent to provide light to sort things out before shutting down for the night. The radio is not "bottom heavy," so you do need to be careful to not knock it over. The band switching knob is a bit large and awkward to use, but is not an impediment to the radio's use.
