Low Noise Level; Efficient
Date of Review: Jul 1, 2007
The Bottom Line: Recommend for use as a room dehumidifier (not whole house) for occupied rooms because of lower noise level than other units.
Needed a dehumidifier for the upstairs living area because family members like warmer temperatures and limit air conditioner use ... hence, humidity is high during the corn-growing season. Was interested in this unit because it has relatively low electrical power requirements, and reviews indicated it had low noise levels. I would agree with other reviewers that the noise level is much lower than the GE unit I have in the basement area ... however the trade-off is that it has a more modest ability to remove moisture compared to the GE unit. None-the-less, the low noise level (equivalent to a large portable room fan at medium speed) sets this unit apart from others and makes this bearable to use in occupied living areas while it is running. Normally we run the unit only at night ... each morning the holding tank is 75% to 100% full. The quality of the instructions was only fair ... but fortunately there are only a limited number of possible settings.
Unit has handle which makes it easy to move from room to room. Fan runs continuously whether condensing unit is running or not ... fan continues to run even if holding tank is full and unit is not removing humidity. Have had only had 2 weeks, but unit appears well constructed. Unit is not cheap, but I believe is fairly priced when compared to other models.
