Number one n64 game out there.
Date of Review: Feb 20, 2000
If there is one game you should have for the Nintendo 64 it is Goldeneye. Goldeneye is truly a revolutionary title. Both the single player and a multi player are exceptional. The graphics are very crisp and smooth. The sound is also realistic. With the proper sound system you can really hear the explosions.
Although the single player is basically a straight shoot'em up. It does have some neat mission objectives. You don't just go out and kill everything you see. What you choose to use and what action you take, can affect the outcome of the mission. Frequently, stealth is key, a silencer can be more helpful than a rocket launcher.
There are many different levels for you to play, pretty much each of them increase in difficulty as you progress. The multi player does have some replay value. First, there's three different levels of difficulty. Also, after you beat each level a new secret level will be available. If that wasn't enough there are many cheats and you can try to earn. To earn a cheat you have to beat a particular level, on a particular difficulty level, within a certain time. Some of these cheats can be very useful, like no radar, infinite ammo, and all weapons.
You would have to be living under a rock, not tohave heard of the greatness of the multi player in Goldeneye. The multiplier is where this game really shines. There are many different scenarios for you to play, and different groups of weapons for you to choose from. Also there are various characters you can pick . Which character you pick doesn't usually impact the game. However, a few can, like jaws, who is tall, and odd job who is very short.
The various scenarios that you can choose from are normal which is basically a game to certain number of kills or until certain time limit lapses. Then there is licensed to kill, which you can also play under a time limit and to a certain amount kills but you die in only one hit. Playing a license to kill using only pistols can be very realistic. You can also set up teams and the numbers can vary you can have three on one, two on one, or two on two.
There is just so much versatility in the multiplier, and it is just so much fun. You can play for hours and not get bored . They're just so many ways you can blow up your friends.
This game is perfect for anyone. I know kids who like it. Teen-agers who love it. Adults that cannot get enough of it. It is not that very difficult to pick up. However, to become master will take a lot of time and practice. I am sure you may have met someone who thinks it did the best that this game. I know I have. However, aside from my best friends I have never found anybody able to best me.
Goldeneye I is just a superb game of course there is always room for improvement. You must remember that the game was made in 1997. However, here in the year 2000 I still have to say it is the first Nintendo 64 game anybody should buy.
