I am not a "perfumey" gal but...
Date of Review: Dec 30, 2002
The Bottom Line: Do yourself a favor - ask to smell the J. Lo's new Glow and then you'll know too if it's for you, you may be pleasantly scent-prised.
My sister, Julee, just visited for the Holidays. We're both young, I'm 26, she's 20. I'm more conservative and try to take cues from her more trendy styles to feel younger than I really am. Although I am generally anti-cologne & perfume, I was naturally intrigued when she mentioned "J. Lo's new perfume" about 3 dozen times while shopping together. JC Penney's was fresh out on Christmas Eve Eve and so was the Holiday Perfume kiosk but we managed to wrangle a bottle at Hecht's for a decent price of $38. She of course scooped it right up as a present for herself from my father, as he was informed later that evening :)
So I was finally able to try it. I actually enjoyed it. I mean, I really liked it. It's a light and refreshing kind-of scent with a definite flair. The ads stress the citrus and flower combination and they're right. It is not one of those overpowering musky kind of scents that makes me (pardon my bluntness) want to throw up 5 minutes after being exposed to it. I now covet a bottle and since my family knows that I do not like to spend any type of serious money on true perfumes & colognes, I did not get one for Christmas like my sister. So, I must find my own. Of course, Valentine's day is coming quicker than usual this year so I may just have to lay some serious & obvious hints for my sweetheart to pick up a small bottle, or perhaps a gift set...
Speaking of the bottle - this one deserves an honorable mention. Some would consider it a gift itself. It's a hip, fresh light pinkish colored cologne in a see-through frosted bottle complete with it's own "diamond necklace". Of course it sports J. Lo's signature so if you're not an anti-fan, you should steer clear. I have a small collection of perfume bottles and I plan to add this one to my small yet notable collection because it is unusual and pretty.
Of course, colognes & perfumes are a unique breed in that you can always sample them before buying so my advice to you is to do yourself a favor - stop at the next booth you come to, ask to smell the J. Lo's new Glow and then you'll know too if it's for you. You just may be pleasantly "scent-prised" :)
