One powerful tool

Date of Review:  Nov 12, 2002
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for the best marriage of GPS and radio tools created (to date), look no further. For just about $200, this GPS/radio is an incredible bargain.
Review: I decided to purchase the Rino 120 for several uses. For hunting, camping, hiking, snowmachining, flying, snowboarding and tactics for my favorite hobby of airsoft.

The applications are almost limitless and the deal is almost unreal. Lots...

Two way comms and GPS for fishing - WOW!

Date of Review:  May 25, 2005
The Bottom Line: Don't have $3k to spend on marine electronics - how bout $500 for a two pack! Makes keeping track of loved ones easy.
Review: Garmin has been an industry leader in Global Positioning Service (GPS) for a long time. There really are only two at the retail, everyday consumer level that provide GPS, Garmin and Magellan. Now, Garmin has added two-way radio features to their...

A great concept in its second generation

Date of Review:  Jan 14, 2005
The Bottom Line: A good buy, and a good concept if it serves your needs. A separate purchase might be more practical for most.
Review: My other reviews on GPSs focus on Magellans, which I consider to be a superior product with better satellite signal processing. That said, the Garmin Rhino 120 has won me over with the basic concept. A FRS/GMRS radio with dozens of great features...

Great product not ready for market.

Date of Review:  Nov 27, 2002
The Bottom Line: Wait until they work out the bugs
Review: What a great idea, an FRS radio and GPS in one small package. The GPS has a small screen but the zoom makes up for that. Garmin has done a great job making the GPS as simple to use as any I have tried. The Rino uses a Click stick (joy stick ) to...

Garmin Rino 120

Date of Review:  Dec 2, 2002
The Bottom Line: So far, I'm very pleased with the GPS functions of this unit. Just need to check out the radio performance to say it's the best thing since sliced bread.
Review: This is an excellent unit for the hunter or avid outdoorsman! It picks up and holds onto sattelites better than most units I have seen. I've had about 5 different GPS's over the last few years and this is the coolest and best functioning one for...

Great unit(updated)

Date of Review:  Feb 4, 2004
The Bottom Line: Great gps. Tons of usable features
Review: I bought the 110 for hunting and hiking. I wasn't interested in the 120 due to cost and features i would never use. The 110 frs radio is pretty good. I can communicate with my buddy easily although we didn't test the range over 1 km.I chose the...

Review: The gps works great when connected to a satellite and has very good accuracy. Now the gmrs/frs radio is a different story.
In a straight line of 300yrds with no trees, the radio will be clear, any futher you must make smoke signals. This is a rip...

Rino 120

Date of Review:  Jul 8, 2004
Review: I purchased two Rinos for Hunter Education class presentations. Spent time in dense forest evaluating the RINO features. Found units to work as advertised. I down loaded the area topo's for eastern Arizona. GPS units performed very well in timber...

Date of Review:  Nov 28, 2002
Review: This product preformed better than expected. We used our 120's for 8 straight days on both water and mountains. The GPS locks in quickly and hunts well in heavy timbered cover. As experienced climbers and rafters we would recomend this unit to all...

Great product, misleading advertising

Date of Review:  Jan 31, 2003
The Bottom Line: Great product, inaccurate product description.
Review: They lied in their advertising. The unit only transmits at 1 watt, not 2 watts. 2 watts is required for talking 5 miles. Motorola Distance transmits 2 watts and claims 5 mile range, how can Garmin make the same claim while only transmitting at 1...
