Beware: Expensive update will haunt you.

I bought this unit for my car, actually it was a gift from my wife. Once you get the hang of it this is a really neat little unit. It really does everything the manufacturer says it does. It works great.
But then you get the message on your screen that it needs to be updated.
Every 12 to 15 months you need to update the unit with new map data. OK, things change. The catch is there is a cost to you. It will cost you $75 for each update. Four updates and you have paid double for the unit. Willing to lay out the cash, $75 each year this is the unit for you.
I feel this is a situation in which the manufacturer continues to make money on you even after you have bought the product. Buyer beware! Check out other companies and their update policy.
