Nice washer!

We bought this washing machine 7 months ago. Our other washer was a cheap low end Roper model and the matching dryer kept breaking so we decided to replace them. This time we wanted to "get what we paid for" and get a slightly higher end washer.

I did not research before buying, which probably isn't a good idea. However we really like our local Lowe's, and I went there and checked out the choices and also talked to the salesman about the options. I knew with four boys I needed the biggest one I could get without buying a commercial-grade one, so I was drawn immediately to the king-sized washers. As there weren't too many choices in this area, I decided on this GE model.

The first thing that I REALLY like about this washer is that warm is really "warm"! In most washers, it turns on the hot/cold simultaneously so you end up getting "cool" instead of "warm". In this model, it alternately turns on "hot" and then "cold" so that the final result is a nice, truly "warm" water temperature.

The second thing I like is that it is quiet. Between cycles it does tend to "thump" as it ends a cycle but there have been times I thought the laundry had finished only to look and see it was still in the "wash" cycle. It is quiet and gentle on clothes. The spin cycle sounds exactly like an airplane revving its engines...only its pretty quiet for what its doing! I was really happy about this too.

I like all the temperature and wash-length options, you can definitely customize every load you wash. Its also very user-friendly.

The only hiccup we had with this is that we had an issue with the matching dryer (which I will explain in that particular review) and somehow neither machine had received its serial number sticker. This caused alot of difficulties because the GE guy "couldn't fix" the dryer because of this (If this review was about the GE repairman it would be a very negative one) but Lowe's was wonderful and completely replaced our 6 month old dryer AND washer (which we had had no issues with) for free including delivery and installation. So when you buy this (at Lowe's preferably!) make sure you check for those serial number stickers just inside the doors, or you will NOT be able to get them repaired, even under warranty.

In short, I am very satisfied with this purchase.
