If a microwave can be "cool" this one is. It has so many features, I hardly know where to start. The one that jumps out the most at you, is the touchscreen control panel. This is totally dark, except for the clock display, until you either open the door, or push the button below it to activate it. Then it turns on bright green with several options to select, which are COOK , REHEAT, DEFROST, and two CUSTOM buttons that allow you to decide what they are, and an OPTIONS button. This type of screen allows you to be guided through each step in great detail. For example, I push the COOK button, that takes me to another screen of several buttons, so I select SOFTEN, then it asks me what kind of food do I have to soften. 1/2, 1 or 2 sticks of butter, cream cheese, ice cream 1 pint, or 1 quart. After making your selection, then the screen changes again to show you the pre-calculated time it will use to do this, like for 1 stick of butter is 50 seconds. That is just one of many selections you can make with this microwave. The touchscreen allows total flexibility in this regard, because it can change what it displays after each selection you make. Everyone who has tried this touchscreen loves it.

The venting system has 3 speeds plus a boost feature for extra high speed exhaust. I have mine set to vent back into the house for energy savings and not exhaust to the outside. The top panel tilts out 30 degrees to allow the air out, and then closes when the cooking is done, or the exhaust fan is turned off. The surface light for the stove below, has a high and low setting, it can also be programed to come on and go off at preset times you select, for a night light feature.

The oven cavity is HUGE at 2.0 cu ft. I think its one of the largest available right now. Cooking wattage is 1100 watts, and is directed into the cooking area via TWO locations. Microwaves enter from the top, and also from the left hand side. GE calls this "dual distribution" cooking system. It comes with a rotating turntable as well.

Exterior styling is of a curved window and curved lower door edge as well, and compliments our other GE range and dishwasher that have the same curved look.

I've had this microwave for one year now, and love it. No problems so far. My first over the range GE lasted 16 years, and was still running when we took it down because it was outdated with woodgrain trim on it. Ha. The second one lasted only 4 years, and was one of the trouble prone "1600" series. I'm hoping this one follows my earlier microwave with a long life too.
