Author's Review
I was hesitant to buy this washer as I've seen some disturbing reviews about it and few good ones. The only thing that allowed me to buy it is that I've found very few of either type of review which means that the machine, in general, is probably pretty good. I've found that most washers in my price range get a mixed bag of reviews, no matter who the manufacturer.
I've only had it for about 3 weeks now and I've put it to some pretty hard use over that 3 weeks. It's done well. It cleans well - okay, so nothing has come out of it making me say WOW! Now this is clean!! But, it's definitely satisfactory.
I was afraid at first that it wasn't working properly because it is so quiet! There's not that heavy swish-swish I'm used to. Even the spin cycle is quiet, and despite the one reviewer here who says it sounds like a jet preparing to take off, I got no such impression. But, then, I live very close to a major airport so my hearing may be jaded in that respect!
This washer (and matching dryer) are installed on the second floor of a frame house that transmits noise and vibration like that's what it's supposed to do. There is very little noise or vibration with this machine, and after putting a stall mat under it, there is even less vibration. You don't even know it's running when you're standing directly beneath it downstairs. If I hadn't bought the mat before the washer and dryer were delivered, I wouldn't have bought it at all.
Clothes come out of the washer well-spun and reasonably dry. The countdown on the dryer always advances so it takes less time to dry than anticipated when on an automatic setting.
My son has complained that the strings on his hoodies have been pulled out during the wash. Not sure whether this happens during the wash or spin cycle. I suggested that he tie the ends together before washing so we'll see if this helps. So, you might want to be a little careful with things that have strings. I haven't had any problem with bras and sashes, etc. getting twisted around anything, so that's probably not the problem. It might just be the strings getting tangled in other clothes and dragged out of the garment.
I have noticed a bit of lint left in the machine occasionally, but nothing to get worked up about. In fact, I only think I noticed it because it has been noted as a problem in another review. Maybe my stuff just doesn't make much lint?
I haven't used a lot of settings on the machine, like extra rinse and extended soak and as I usually just use warm/cold, I can't say how hot the water gets if you choose hot. So, if you're a fussy washer you'd probably do better heeding the other reviews. If you're like me who just separates light from dark and picks a cycle and temperature that probably won't damage your clothes, this machine works well.
