Where was Quality Control on this one ? Read some of the *possible* reasons.

I work from home and since I'm on conference calls allot in a wireless environment, I wanted a 5.8GHz cordless phone set.

OK, maybe thats[title] too harsh. Here are the top 5 reasons why this phone may have passed the QC dept:
5. Originally meant to be rebranded under the name "Qual-t"
4. How could it not work good? Just look at it, nice huh!
3. QC dept gave free bingo entree fees to the first ones done.
2. Boss was in meetings all day.
1. Local "Adult beverage" venue gave free samples at at morning break.

No matter the reason, when it comes to cordless phones that perform like bunk, th GE 25881 really is "Close, to NUMBER 1".

I'm not sure how to say anything different than the other reviews, because they are true. I can add some weight this way:
- My wife refuses to use the cordless handsets due to muffled communications.
- Cordless handsets full of static (Channel switching option is useless).
- If your on the phone with a 'soft' talker, volume does not go up very much.
- Not sure if the belt clips work, mine were'nt included.
- People always say "You sound much better" when I switch to the Base phone.

What I like..
- Optional headset plug on the side of handsets
- Looks
- Comes with two cordless handsets
- Ability to get refund

UPDATE : July 10th. To be fair, I thought this was a Digital cordless set. It was not. Sure, the answering maching part was digital, but the cordless handset part was not. This would explain allot of the problem. The packaging seems to mislead the consumers to believe it is ALL digital.
